Mark Selby survived a first-round scare against Kurt Maflin by winning 10-9 after a nervy match in the World Snooker Championship.
The impressive Maflin was only one frame away from a first ever victory at The Crucible, winning five consecutive frames in the second session, leading 9-8 ahead of the reigning world champion, Mark Selby.
Selby was in full command at the first session. He made a 103 break in the 3rd frame and produced positive snooker, finishing the session with a comfortable 6-3 lead. The 124 clearance in the 12th frame proved once again why The Jester is the world’s #1.
