The Irishman Mark Allen defeated Kyren Wilson 10-7 in the 2018 Masters final,

Allen enjoyed the greatest snooker evening of his career, winning a first triple crown title at the Alexandra Palace in London.

“It’s surreal,” he told BBC Two. “It has been a long time coming. I was never sure that it was going to come to be honest. I knocked on the door for so long and I can finally say I’ve won a Triple Crown.

“It’s 40 years since Alex Higgins first lifted this trophy so to bring it back to Northern Ireland, that’s what I do it for.

“Hopefully this is a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Hopefully this is just the first.”
