The Irishman made the Maximum break in the first frame of the Group Six match against Mark Davis at Crondon Park in Essex and the 147 break will reward him £500 high break prize unless it’s equalled.

His previous best had been 143 more then 20 years ago and his maximum today was the 118th in snooker history.

O’Brien is currently ranked 34th in the world and was a winner of the British Open in 1999.
